Louise Ann Farnen, 85, passed away at home March 10, 2016. Louise was born September 22, 1930 in Indianapolis, Indiana. Louise was a voracious reader and a lover of learning. She was a graduate of Kansas State University where she was a member of the Alpha Xi Delta Sorority and a member of the Mortar Board. Louise was a member of Alpha Phi Omega, the National Society of Arts and Letters, the St Joseph's Woman's Auxiliary and the Symphony Guild of Kansas City. Louise was a docent for the Nelson Atkins Museum of Art for 30 years and loved every minute of the time she spent learning about the exhibits and sharing what she knew with guests to the museum.Louise was the devoted wife of James F. Farnen, to whom she was married for 64 years. She was the much loved mother of Paula Kerman (Lonny), Dr. John Farnen (Judy), Jim Farnen (Joan), Dr. Mary Counts (Vic), Laurie McCray (Joe) and Kathy Talbot (Greg). She was a grandmother and great grandmother many times over. Louise was preceded in death by her parents, Donald and Lenore Changnon and her sister Mary Phyllis Drake.Friends may call Monday March 14 from 10am to 10:30 am at St Thomas More Catholic Church, 11822 Holmes Rd, Kansas City, MO. Mass of Christian Burial will be said at 10:30. A gathering of family and friends will be held immediately following the service in the parish hall. Private Burial will be held in Montgomery City, Missouri.In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to The Little Sisters of the Poor.
