Marcella died in the early morning of December 23, 2015, at home with her husband. Visitation will be 11am-1pm Tuesday, December 29th at Muehlebach Funeral Care, 6800 Troost Ave, Kansas City, MO followed by funeral services at 1pm. Interment will be at Mt. Moriah Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions to Crossroads Hospice or John Knox Presbyterian Kirk.
Marcella Thereon Raupp was born January 1, 1926, in Mt. Vernon, Illinois to Louis and Sadie Thereon. She graduated from Mt. Vernon Township High School in 1943 and married Donald Gowler on July 6 of that year. They were members of Second Baptist Church, Mt. Vernon, IL. On New Years Eve of 1959, with sons Benson and Randall, they moved to Kansas City. Marcella took a job as secretary to the principal of Ruskin High School in Kansas City where she worked until 1968, just before she lost Don to cancer. They were members of Ruskin Heights Baptist and Charter members of Red Bridge Baptist both in Kansas City, MO.
In 1968, Marcella took a position as executive secretary at Marion Laboratories where she worked until she retired in 1991. Marcella married Neal Raupp on June 1, 1976. Marcella and Neal were members of First Baptist Church of Kansas City and John Knox Presbyterian Kirk in Kansas City, MO. Marcella and Neal were able to travel the United States, traveling to Alaska, Hawaii, and to Europe.
Marcella was proceeded in death by her parents; first husband, Donald Eugene Gowler; her sister, Virginia Cherry; her brother, Donald Thereon; and a grandson Donald Glen Gowler. She is survived by her husband F. Neal Raupp of Kansas City, MO; two sons, Benson Gowler (BillieJo) of Kansas City, MO and Randall Gowler (Alice) of Olathe, KS; two stepdaughters Gay Crider (Don) of Plant city, FL and Kay Carry (Bruce) of Gig Harbor, WA, two granddaughters, Lisa Gowler Anderson (Jared) of Blue Springs, MO and Rachel Gowler Ward (Jeff) of Shawnee, KS; a great-grandson, Alex Anderson; and two great-granddaughters, Riley Anderson and Abigail Ward.
