Margaret Ann McNamara Crimmins, age 88, passed away September 22, 2023, in Houston, TX at The Solana Vintage Park Memory Care with family by her side. She had battled pulmonary fibrosis and Alzheimer’s Disease for many years. She was born February 27, 1935, in Kansas City, MO and was the second of eight children born to Hugh and Teresa (Brennen) McNamara. She grew up in Kansas City, attended Bishop Lillis High School, graduating in 1952 and worked for Skelly Oil. She married Edward Crimmins on September 19, 1964, and moved to Lawton, Ok. Margaret was a homemaker when her daughters were young and enjoyed being a leader of their Blue Bird group and volunteering in various roles at their school. In 1980 she joined Ed in working at their business, C&C Distributors, which they ran until they both retired in 2001.
Margaret was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Lawton where she was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary and the Society of Saint Vincent de Paul. In 2005 she was a recipient of a papal award from His Holiness Pope John Paul II in honor of the work she did in the Catholic Church.
Margaret is survived by her daughters Nancy and Hans Cyr, Diane Crimmins, and Maria and Robert Primmer, and her grandsons Matthew and Sarah Cyr, Tyler and Anna Cyr and Christopher Cyr. She is also survived by her siblings Hugh and JoAnn McNamara, Mary McNamara, Robert McNamara, Rita and Chuck Gromowsky, Dave McNamara; Honor Ulveling and many nieces and nephews. Margaret was preceded in death by her husband Ed, her parents, and her siblings Tom and Lou McNamara, Michael “Mike” McNamara and Jerry McNamara; and Leonard and LaDonna Crimmins. She is also preceded in death by her nieces and nephews Janet McNamara, Joe McNamara, Kristina McNamara and Greg Crimmins.
The service for Margaret will be Friday, October 20that Church of the Nativity, 3800 W 119th Street, Leawood, KS with a rosary at 9:30 am and a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 am, both in the parish church. Inurnment will be at Mt. Olivet Catholic Cemetery following the funeral mass. Her funeral mass will be live streamed on the church’s website kcnativity.org
