Margaret D. McDonald, 83, of Overland Park, KS, passed away February 23, 2017. Visitation will be on Wednesday, March 1st from 5-7pm with 6:30pm Rosary at Muehlebach Funeral Care, 6800 Troost Avenue, Kansas City, MO. Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10:00am on Thursday, March 2nd at St. Elizabeth Parish, 2 East 75th Street, Kansas City, MO.
Margaret was born on March 8, 1933 in Kansas City, MO to Hugh and Ruth (Keplinger) Flanagan. She attended Holy Name and Blessed Sacrament Catholic Schools. She graduated from Lillis High School in 1950. She was employed by City Service following high school. She resigned from City Service in order to be a caretaker for her father. She met the love of her life, Ward, at Redemptorist Social Club in 1954 and they were married on Nov. 26, 1955 in Kansas City, MO. She worked from home as a court reporter transcriber while raising her family. In addition to working from home, she was a paraprofessional at St. Elizabeth School for a number of years. She devoted many years of her time to the scouting programs. Margaret is preceded in death by her parents; brothers, William, James, and John Flanagan; and sister, Rosemary Harper. She is survived by her loving husband Ward of 61 years; sons, Timothy (Kathi), and Michael McDonald; daughter, Marianne (Robert) Pavlu; grandchildren, Scott, (Ali), Meghan, Jacob, Remi, Alyssa, Kelli, and Alex; great grandchild, McKinley; and brother, Capt. Philip E. Flanagan, USMC Ret.
