Margaret McCabe, 99, of Overland Park, KS passed away August 29, 2017, at Olathe Hospice House surrounded by family members. Graveside service will be held at Forest Hill cemetery, 6901 Troost Avenue, Kansas City, MO at 10:30, Friday September 1. Memorial contributions may be given to Olathe Hospice House.Margaret was born December 16, 1917, the daughter of John and Bessie Monnett, in a house on Highland Ave in Kansas City, MO. She grew up in Brookside with fond memories, graduating from Southwest High School then from the University of Kansas City in 1939. She worked briefly as a librarian before marrying her husband of 37 years, Loren, starting a family and being a caregiver to both her mother and grandmother. In the 1950s she started a long administrative career in the Kansas City MO School District retiring in 1983. She played bridge with a group of college classmates in the 1930s, a tradition that continued for them for nearly 70 years.She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Loren, and three brothers. She is survived by her daughter, Marilyn Johnson and her husband Thomas Johnson, her son, Thomas McCabe, grandchildren Heather McQueeny, Melissa McCabe, and Justin McCabe, and five great grandchildren.The family wants to thank the care givers at Aberdeen Village and Olathe Hospice House.
