Margaret "Peggy" Gardner

Margaret “Peggy” Gardner, age 94, of Kansas City, passed away peacefully in the comfort of her home on Thursday, January 15, 2025. She had lived a long and wonderfully full 94 years of life. Services will be held on Monday, January 20th at Christ the King Catholic Church, 8510 Wornall Rd., with Visitation beginning at 8:30am, Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30am, and interment immediately following at Calvary Cemetery.

Peggy was born on April 23, 1930 in St. Joseph, MO, to her parents Francis and Kathleen. Coming from a true Irish Family, Peggy was a devout Catholic, where she had always stayed strong in her faith all 94 years. After Peggy graduated from high school, she worked at the phone company for a short time until finding the love of her life, John. Peggy and John met by friend introducing them on a blind date! From their union, they had 11—yes, you read that correctly—children! It was a total of 70+ years they celebrated in marriage until his passing in June of 2021.

Peggy enjoyed the sunshine, as well as tending to her flower beds, ensuring they were always beautiful and well-kept. She was also a gifted quilter, having made many throughout the years for family and friends. John and Peggy also took pleasure in traveling often and all over!

She is preceded in death by her parents; beloved husband; children, Charlie, Mike, Susan, Tom and Steve. Peggy is dearly missed by her remaining 6 children, Kathy West, Bill Gardner, Julie Heavner, Patty Hon, Margie Shatto and Larry Gardner; as well as so many dear grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
