Martha Carolyn (Morton) Ziegler, 92,of Kansas City, Mo passed away November 16, 2024, surrounded by her family. The funeral services will be held at St. Thomas More Church, 11822 Holmes Rd, KC, Mo 64131. Visitation will be Friday, November 22, 2024 from 9:30 -10:30 followed by the rosary and then the Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11:00am.
Martha was born on October 13, 1932 in Paris, Illinois. At age 3 she moved to Kansas City, Missouri with her family. She attended Southeast High School and graduated from Saint Agnes High School, Los Angeles, California.
Martha was married to Fred C. Ziegler, of Kansas City, Mo. from 1953 to 1982. From this union they raised 3 children. They were devout Catholics, who attended St. Catherine's church since the mid sixties.
Martha was a Federal employee for 32 Years. During her time working for the United States Marine Corps, she received the Commendation for Meritorious Civilian Service Award in 1994. She was also much appreciated for her generous volunteer work at St. Joseph Hospital and the Little of the Sisters' of the Poor. She received the Bishop's Award in 1999 for her contribution to the life and work of the church in the Diocese of Kansas City - St. Joseph. She received a Certificate of Award for Excellence in Community Service from The National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution.
Martha loved baking for her family, some favorites were cinnamon rolls, no bake chocolate oatmeal cookies, chocolate sheet cake to name a few. Martha loved her sweets!
Martha was quite the seamstress, making her daughter's wedding dress, outfits and doll clothes for her children and grandchildren. Quilts and baby blankets were made for her loved ones. Martha had such a giving heart!
Martha was preceded in death by her parents; four sisters: Mary, Ruth, Elizabeth, Priscilla; one brother: David; her husband Fred; and son Stephen. She is survived by her children: Sue Tolle, Fred Ziegler (Kim) and Tim Ziegler (Beth); 5 loving grandchildren: Jacob, Allyson, Shannon, Melissa, Kyle; 10 great grandchildren; sister-n-law Kathy Morton and dozens of caring nieces and nephews.
