Mary A. Schloegel

Mary A. Schloegel, 92, of Kansas City, passed away peacefully on August 7, 2017. Visitation will be at Our Lady of Lourdes Church, 8812 E. Gregory Blvd, Raytown, MO, on Wed., Aug. 9th at 10:30am with Mass of Christian Burial beginning at 11am. Entombment at Mt. Olivet Cemetery.Mary was born on October 30, 1924 and was a lifelong resident of Kansas City. She attended Holy Name Grade School and St. Agnes High School. On September 11, 1948, she married Carl, her husband of 62 years. Mary was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She was a homemaker extraordinaire whose first priority was always her family. Every holiday and birthday was special because of the things she did, from baking delicious cookies to preparing favorite dinners and cakes. She loved having her grandchildren over and visiting them, reading to them, making popcorn, and tucking them in. Mary was a devout Catholic who had a special devotion to the Blessed Mother. For many years she was an active member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, volunteering at a nursing home, as a member of the Altar and Rosary Society, and as a lay minister. Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Carl; parents, John and Genevieve Ohrazda; two brothers and two sisters. She is survived by her daughters, Karen De Leon (Frank), Lynda Nelson (Charlie) and Julie Ellis (Jim); seven grandchildren, Angela, Anthony, Kelly, Patrick, Kevin, Conor, Colin; and great grandson, John. Everything she did in her life, big or small, Mary did with love. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Our Lady of Lourdes Church or Catholic Community Hospice.
