Mary Gertrude Crosswhite, age 98 passed away peacefully on July 22, 2023. She was born on July 27th, 1923 in Missouri. She was the only child of Alva and Bertha Crosswhite. She spoke with fond memories of life on the farm and it was here where her lifelong love of gardening first began to grow. In high school, she was very active with the Glee Club, drama, band, yearbook staff, and Pep Squad. She graduated from Lawson, Mo in 1943.
After graduation, she spent a few years in Cheyenne, WY with her beloved Uncle Charlie and his wife at the F.E.Warren Air Force Base. When she returned to Kansas City, she worked as a secretary in the Accounting department of Eastern Panhandle Pipeline for 40 years. This service was something she valued as one of the significant accomplishments in her life.
In her free time, Mary loved to travel. She traveled all across the country but her journeys throughout the southwest were always her favorites. Mary loved taking pictures of all the places she had been and even turned this passion into a side business photographing weddings and formal and informal portraits.
Mary was a long-time member of Sherwood Bible Church. She loved the Lord with all her heart and faithfully served Him her whole life. She loved to sing hymns and even once had the opportunity to sing in the choir at a Billy Graham crusade. Mary lived a joyful life drawing people in with her sense of humor, playfulness, and affection. She will be greatly missed.
The visitation will be on July 29th at 9:00 at Sherwood Bible Church.
The service will begin at 10:00.
The internment will be at Memorial Park Cemetery following the service.
