(Mary) Elizabeth Brenner, age 91, of Kansas City, Missouri, died May 15, 2015 at the home with family. Elizabeth was born in Axtell, Kansas on November 1, 1923, the middle of nine children, to Magdalen Waller and John Henry Meyer. The family moved to Fairview, Kansas in 1932 where she attended Fairview schools. Elizabeth moved to Kansas City in 1941, attended business school, and worked at Sealtest Dairy. In 1947 she married Francis W. Brenner. To this union was born a son, Francis W. Brenner, Jr. (Bernadette), and three daughters, Carolyn Knickerbocker, Mary Brenner, and Jeanne Lisman.Elizabeth retired from George K. Baum in 1988. She was a faithful member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church and its Sodality. She was active in the Daughters of Isabella, the Community of the Good Shepherd Guild, Our Lady of Mercy Auxiliary, Special Religious Education for the Developmentally Disabled (SPRED), and served on the board of the Diocesan Council of Catholic Women. She was a member of the Tabernacle Society. In 1987 she and Francis were awarded the Bishop's Recognition Award by Bishop Raymond Boland for volunteer work in the church and the school.Elizabeth was preceded in death by her husband in 2000, her parents, her brothers, Leo, John Paul, Raymond, Robert, her sisters, Clarissa, Rosemary, Sylvia and her son in law William Knickerbocker.She is survived by her children, her grandchildren, James, Dawn, Christine, Mark, Kerry, and Michael, six great grandchildren, and her brother Jerry Meyer (Jeanne), Shawnee, Kansas.Services will be held on Friday, May 22, 2015 at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, 1001 E 52nd St, Kansas City, Missouri with visitation at 10:00 AM and Funeral Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM. Inurnment will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church or Hope House (Domestic Violence Services), PO Box 577, Lee's Summit, MO 64063.
