Mary Ellen Ryan

Mary Ellen Ryan, 86, passed away June 10, 2024, surrounded by family and friends.  The rosary will be prayed at 7pm Sunday, June 16^th at St. Michael the Archangel Parish, 14251 Nall Ave, Leawood, KS followed by a visitation ending at 9pm.  Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30am Monday, June 17^th at St. Michael the Archangel Church.   Interment will be at Resurrection Cemetery, Lenexa, KS.  In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions to Little Sisters of the Poor.

Mary was born April 3, 1938, in Kansas City, KS to Patrick Joseph Callaghan Sr. and Ellen “Helen” Catherine (McKiernan) Callaghan.  The family were parishioners at St. John the Evangelist.  Mary graduated from Mount Saint Scholastica High School in Atchison, KS.  Mary was a devoted wife and mother.  Survivors include three sons, James Joseph Ryan and wife Frances Ann, Kevin Thomas Ryan and wife Angela Renea, and John Patrick Ryan; grandchildren, Jacob William Ryan, Faith Anna Ryan, Alec Lloyd Ryan, Joshua Michael Ryan, and Colin Nathaniel Ryan; sisters Rita May Clark and Elizabeth Ann Sewall; and several nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years James William Ryan; her parents; and brother, Paul Joseph Callaghan Jr.   The family would like to thank the caregivers of Visiting Angels for providing compassionate care in her final days.
