Megin Madden Poindexter passed away on July 11, 2022 after a lengthy and courageous battle with cancer.
Megin was born on July 1, 1953 in Kansas City, Missouri and attended St. Peter's Elementary and St Teresa’s Academy. She graduated from the University of Missouri, Kansas City with a degree in World Languages and also studied French at the Sorbonne University in Paris. In her college and post graduate years, she participated in extended learning opportunities through the Alliance Francaise. She also produced an award-winning foreign language radio documentary for which she received a Corporation for Public Broadcasting award (Gold Medal for Special Broadcasting).
Megin worked as a tutor, nanny and also served many hours as a volunteer for several organizations in Kansas City throughout her adult life. She loved to travel and made trips to France, Greece, England, Belgium, Mexico, Canada and many locations throughout the US. In spite of lifelong health struggles, she was a wonderful, nurturing, mother and grandmother.
Megin was preceded in death by her parents, Mary Margaret and Stanford Madden of Kansas City.
Megin is survived by her daughter, Claire (Adam) Stone of St Charles, Missouri, three grandchildren, four brothers and sisters: Stan Madden of Kansas City, Kathy Stapleton of Danville California, Christopher Madden of Prairie Village, Kansas, Martha Madden (Bob Numrich) of Prairie Village, Kansas, and numerous nieces and nephews all of whom who she loved dearly.
The family wishes to thank the wonderful staff of Grand River Healthcare in Chillicothe, as well as the staff of Three Rivers Hospice.
