Michael Gibbons

Michael Gibbons of Lees Summit, MO passed away October 31, 2015 in his home, surrounded by family. Visitation will be held Thursday November 5th from 5-7 pm at St Marks Church (3736 S Lees Summit Road, Independence MO 64055), and funeral services will be held on November 6th at 11 am also at St Marks Church. Michael was a loving, hardworking, family man born to David and Rose Gibbons on May 30th 1958. He spent his development years surrounded by a loving family in Peoria IL. After graduating from Spalding High school in 1974 he met his first wife, Diana. From their union they had one child, David. Michael then moved to St Louis after obtaining an undergraduate degree from Bradley University, to attend SLU in 1978. Four short years later he set off for Kansas City with a doctoral in law ready to practice in 1982. He began work practicing medical litigation, and in 1994 was introduced to his second wife and love of his life, Lisa. From their union of 20 years they had four children, David, Taylor, Lindsey and Laura. Michael was preceded in death by his sister, Molly Wake. He is survived by his brother Timothy Gibbons, Sister Maureen Wolf, brother-in-law David Wolf, sister-in-law Toni Gibbons, brother-in-law Fred Wake, Granddaughter Cali, and many nieces and nephews. Michael had a rebellious streak in his dignified nature and had love for the road, taking many outdoor and motorcycle trips. A true renegade for law and doing what was right.
