There will be a toast at 5:30 P.M. in honor of Mike at The Quaff Bar & Grill this Friday, July 15th. Michael Raymond Leisman, the son of Robert Raymond and Helen Joyce (Slemp) Leisman, was born April 12, 1962 in Fairfax, Missouri. He graduated from Rock Port High School in 1980, where he earned the State Farmer award from Future Farmers of America. He attended Northwest Missouri State University, Maryville, Missouri. He is the father of one daughter, Libby Ranae Leisman (Brandon) Lotter born in 1986, and the grandfather to three grandchildren, Jack Dempsey, Piper Ranae, and Harper Elaine Pearl, of Rock Port. Mike established himself as a Rock Port farmer prior to joining the Rock Port Market family business. Mike was soon named manager of the store, a role he held for fifteen years. He moved to Las Vegas, Nevada and became involved in casino construction, subsequently moving to Omaha, Nebraska, where he joined the crew responsible for the building of the popular attraction, the Desert Dome, at the Henry Doorly Zoo. He then returned to the family business in Rock Port. In 2010, Mike started his own business as an over-the-road truck driver, purchased a semi and became the owner/operator of Mike Leisman Transportation, traveling the country providing goods to retailers much like his own hometown store. Mike passed away Saturday, July 9, 2016 at Mercy Medical Center, Des Moines, Iowa at the age of 54. Mike was a member of the Rock Port United Methodist Church and served the Rock Port Volunteer fire department for sixteen years. He enjoyed golfing and became an avid, accomplished and scratch golfer. He was a Shriner, a member of the Rock Port Country Club and a supporter of the Downtowner, another family business formerly owned by his own grandmother, Hallie Slemp. Mike was preceded in death by his mother, Helen Joyce (Slemp) Leisman, brother, Robert Mark Leisman, grandparents, Raymond and Lillie Leisman and Harold and Hallie Slemp, aunts, Bev (Jack) Eades and Jean (Robert) Ladd. Survivors include daughter, Libby (Brandon) Lotter of Rock Port, Missouri; grandchildren, Jack, Piper and Harper Lotter of Rock Port; father, Robert Raymond Leisman of Kansas City, Missouri; brothers, William Matthew Patrick (Sara) Leisman and his daughter, niece, Margaret Mary of Kansas City, Missouri, and Jonathan Miles Leisman of St. Louis, Missouri; sister-in-law, Sue Leisman, and her son, nephew, John Michael Kavanaugh Leisman of Kansas City, Missouri; he also leaves behind many close extended family members, including Jim and Sheila Case of Branson, Missouri, Howard Fischer of Kansas City, Missouri, Frank and Jackie Tobaben of Cole Camp, Missouri, Rod and Kay Tobaben of Dallas, Texas, John and Jane Linville of Kansas City, Missouri, Ryan and Melissa Tobaben of Olathe, Kansas, Mike and Shella Ladd of Tucson, Arizona, Dennis and Vicki Ladd, of Hamburg, Iowa; and their families.Memorial donations for Mike can be made to the National Kidney Foundation, 6405 Metcalf Ave., #204, Overland Park, KS 66202 or High Creek Cemetery, 20352 State Hwy B, Rock Port, MO 64482
