On the morning on January 18, 2025, Milton “Bud” Gosselin passed away peacefully in his sleep. Bud was born on January 1, 1938, in Kansas City, MO, to Fredrick and Eileen (Prussing) Gosselin. He was born 11.5 months after his brother, Charles, whom he was extremely close with.
Bud enlisted in the Coast Guard when he was under-age, thanks to his father (who never heard the end of that from his mother), serving 2 years and having Japan and Hawaii as a couple of his posts. He affectionately and jokingly earned the nickname “Baby Duck” from his fellow shipmates on account of his young age and the way he styled his hair! Bud ended his service in January of 1959.
In August of 1959, he started his 40-year career with General Motors, retiring in October of 1999. It was there Bud’s love for motorized four and two-wheeled ‘toys’ blossomed. On June 29, 1963, Bud and Janet (Murray) were married, and from their union had three children.
Bud was a well-loved man with a great sense of humor. He knew no stranger and would always do whatever he could for others. However, when it came to the church luncheon line, he had to be first! Bud sure loved food, and his friends knew it. Bud was also known as a ‘prankster’ at work and would often get his coworkers one way or another. After his wife’s passing, Bud took on a new hobby, developing a passion for Harley-Davidsons and other two-wheeled toys! He enjoyed a good ride on the open road.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 47 years, Janet; his parents; and his brother and sister-in-law, Chuck and Peggy Gosselin. Bud is dearly missed by his three children, Michele Gerling, Michael (Lisa) Gosselin, and Lisa Wombwell; four grandchildren, Kaity (Phil) Stair, Zachary Gosselin, Spencer Gosselin, and Allison Wombwell; three great-grandchildren, Blake, Mikah and Madeline Stair; as well as his beloved nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
All services will be held at St. Peters Catholic Church, 815 E. Meyer Blvd, KCMO, on Saturday, January 25th with Visitation at 9am, Rosary prayed at 9:30am, and Mass of Christian Burial at 10am. Inurnment immediately following at Mt. Olivet Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests Memorial Contributions in Bud’s honor to the Alzheimer’s Association, 8001 Conser Ste 240, Overland Park, KS 66204.
