Patricia, born in Aberdeen, South Dakota, on February 20, 1944, peacefully passed away at her home on March 13, 2024 in Lee's Summit, Missouri.
Throughout her life, Patricia instilled warmth and kindness into every interaction she had, never failing to find the good in everyone she met. Her unwavering faith was a cornerstone of her being, guiding her through life's challenges with grace and resilience. She was known for her timeless catchphrase, "the long and short of it," a phrase that encapsulated her straightforward yet compassionate nature.
Patricia's career was not just a job but a calling; she received her initial diploma from St. Luke's School of Nursing in Duluth, MN in 1965 and later her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from UMKC, both of which laid the foundation for a lifetime of service and care towards others. She was actively involved in the Right to Life Movement, standing up for what she believed in with unwavering dedication.
Outside of work, Patricia found joy in simple pleasures such as sewing, solving jigsaw puzzles, traveling to new places, and playing the piano. Her love for these activities reflected her creative spirit and zest for life. She was also a member of Cursillo, a movement of the Catholic Church, where the lay faithfully working together with priests and bishops, use the cursillo method to find, form, sustain and link Lay Leaders for Christ and His church.
She is survived by her loving husband James "Jim" Filley, devoted son Timothy "Tim" Filley and his wife Kara, cherished granddaughters Sierra (Zach) Little, Rachel (partner Ian) Walker, and Emily Walker. In addition to her immediate family, Patricia is also mourned by her sister Ginny Noonan with husband Ken. She was predeceased by her parents, Oscar James and Eleanor Therese Bigot Zeller and her daughter in 2001, Mary Katherine Filley Coleman.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 20th from 7:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. with a Rosary at 7:30 p.m. at St. John Francis Regis Catholic Church in Kansas City followed by a Mass on Thursday, March 21st at 11:00 a.m. Patricia will be laid to rest at Mount Olivet Cemetery in Raytown immediately following Mass.
In honoring Patricia's memory let us remember her legacy of love, faith, and compassion that touched the lives of all those around her. She may have departed this world but her spirit will forever live on in the hearts of those who were privileged to know her. May she rest in eternal peace.
