Patricia Jean “Pat” Gallagher died on Jan. 12, 2025, at Little Sisters of the Poor in Kansas City, Mo., following a long illness. She was born on Aug. 28, 1947, in Kansas City, Mo., to P.W. and Edith Conroy Gallagher.
Pat graduated from St. Pius X High School in 1966 and received an LPN degree from St. Mary’s Hospital School of Nursing in 1968. She worked at various hospitals around the city, including St. Mary’s, Trinity Lutheran and HCA. She received a B.S. in Nursing from Avila College in 1993.
Pat always wanted to be a nurse from the time she was a little girl. A nurse’s uniform was one of her favorite things to wear, and she never strayed from that goal. She was good with patients because she was doing what she had always wanted to do.
Her Catholic faith was important to Pat. She completed a Souljourners program for spiritual directors and companions at Benedictine College in 2011.
With a lifelong love of music of all kinds, Pat enjoyed singing in several church choirs over the years, including the Ponitifical Choir at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Kansas City, Mo. She also enjoyed playing the piano.
As a devoted cat lover, Pat enjoyed the company of several cats through her life, including Patches, Roxy and Trixie.
Pat’s parents preceded her in death. She is survived by three sisters, Anne (Greg) Johnson, Joan (Marcus) Nashelsky and Nancy Gallagher; one brother, Mike (Linda) Gallagher; three nieces; and two nephews.
