Patricia (Pat) Eileen Landwehr passed away on July 15, 2024.
Pat, the only daughter of Frank William Ryan, Jr. and Betty Margaret Grim Ryan was born in October of 1951 in Camp Crowder, Missouri.
She graduated from Parkwood High School in Joplin, attended Missouri Southern College for two years before transferring to the University of Missouri. In 1973 she earned a B. S. in Interior Design at University of Missouri – Columbia.
Pat is survived by her husband of 41 years, Joseph (Joe) Landwehr, her daughter, Katerina (Kit) Landwehr, her brothers-in-law, William Landwehr, Jefferson City, Mo. and Fred Landwehr, Austin Tx. Her parents, her only brother, Michael S. Ryan, and cousins Sylvia and John Irwin preceded her in death. She is survived by her Irwin cousins: Jan Beck Irwin, Martin Irwin (Roxy), Ann Irwin (Jill Duvall), Lee Irwin, Seth Irwin (Carolyn), and Brian Irwin (Arthur Stewart).
Pat started her working career as a telephone operator in Joplin, then as a buyer at Westlake Hardware in Columbia. She moved to Kansas City and working at Stix, Baer and Fuller, Aero Drapery Company, Southwestern Bell Yellow Pages, Gerald Jones & Company, and Baird Contract Interiors. Her love of animals, especially cats, eventually led her to work at the Kansas City Cat Clinic where she was the office manager for 10 years, retiring in 2018.
She was passionate about volunteering, serving as a volunteer usher for 10 years at the Folly Theater, a volunteer tutor at the Laubach Literacy Council, and again at Lead to Read K.C. reading to grade school students. She was an avid and life long reader herself, often reading more than a hundred books a year. She was brilliant, and loved comedy, especially late night shows. Her hobbies included weaving, sewing, gardening, and playing bridge.
Funeral services for Pat will be at 11:00 AM on Saturday, August 10, 2024, at Visitation Church, 5100 Main Street, K.C. Mo. 64112, followed by a buffet lunch at the church.
