Patricia was born on September 8, 1939, in Kansas City, MO to Pierce Michael Lawless Sr. and Pauline Waltermire Lawless. She attended Holy Cross Grade School, graduated from Cardinal Glennon High School, and attended Mt. St Scholastica for College. Her most cherished role in life was as a housewife and mother to her six children. Once her children became school age she worked as a bookkeeper in a family business, Northeast Realty Co., at Our Lady of Peace Catholic School, and St. Catherine of Sienna Catholic Church. Patricia was a faithful member of St. Catherine of Sienna Catholic Parish from 1962 until its closing in April 2023 and then St. Thomas Moore Catholic Parish from 2004 until her death. She enjoyed volunteering in her free time and of her many contributions her activities included; At St. Catherine’s where she was involved in the RCIA, Parish Youth Group, and served as a Eucharistic Minister. She was actively involved in Marriage Encounter and Teens Encounter Christ retreats.
Additionally, she spent many hours volunteering at St Joseph of Carondelet Hospital, Kansas City Hospice House, and Catholic Worker House. Outside of volunteering, and living a full and active lifestyle, she also was an avid reader. Her love of reading inspired her and her friends to form a book club before book clubs were the “in thing”; they met together for over 30 years.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 41 years, Harold Neal, her parents, and her brother Peirce Michael Lawless Jr. She met Harold, the love of her life, while they were still in high school, married him on December 8, 1957, and had 6 children. Surviving to mourn her loss are her 6 children: John Kevin Neal Sr. (Shannon), Michaella Neal, Lisa Weinand, Paul E. Neal, Deana Reichert (Chris), and Jennifer Lundstrom (Adam); her 8 grandchildren: Shanon Neal Newlin (Rex), John Kevin Neal, Jr, Kevin Weinand, Sarah Weinand, Isabella Neal, Lily Reichert, Maggie Lundstrom, and Alex Lundstrom; her 6 great-grandchildren and her great-great grandson. She is also survived by 3 brothers: James Lawless, William Lawless, and John Lawless (Jane), and many lifelong friends.
The family would like to thank the staff of Silverado Lee’s Summit Memory Care Community for their care for Patricia during the past 2 years. We would also like to thank Ascend Hospice for their loving support of Patricia and our family over the past year.
