Pauline 'Polly' W. Laurent

Polly Laurent, 85, of Kansas City, MO passed away December 13, 2016, surrounded by her family. Visitation will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday, December 19 at Floral Hills Cemetery and Funeral Home, 7000 Blue Ridge Blvd., Kansas City, MO. 64133. The funeral service is at 12:00 p.m., followed by burial.
Polly was born on January 28, 1931 in Durham, North Carolina to Thomas and Burnell Wilson. In 1949 she graduated from Bragtown High School in Durham. Shortly after graduation Polly moved to Kansas City, MO. to attend Central Radio School. There she met her husband of 55 years, Harold L. Laurent, an air traffic controller. After a short move to Nebraska they settled in Kansas City and raised 5 children. Polly worked as a sales clerk, and became involved in St. Catherines Parish and School. She was a talented artist who loved painting with watercolor, pen and ink, and acrylics.
She is preceded in death by her husband Hal, her parents, and sister Burnette. Pollys surviving family include her children, daughters Debbie and husband Mel Burton, and Suzanne and husband Brian Kendrick; sons Tim and wife Judi Laurent, Jeff and wife Norma Jean Laurent, and Patrick and wife Kay Laurent; 15 grandchildren, Jessica Forrest and Jennifer Wilson; Aime Oberheim, Nikki Laurent, and Arron Laurent; Ashley Laurent, Kelly Laurent, and Eric Laurent; Lauren Martin, Caitlin Martin, Natalie Martin, Jordan Kendrick, and Hunter Kendrick; Heather Laurent and Shawn Laurent; five great-grandchildren, John-Paul, Jackson, Zoe, Olivia, and new baby Emmerson; her brother-in-law Carl Laurent, and nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank all those who took loving care of Polly, and especially Wally Goode who was her companion until her death. Thank you to all of those who have called, prayed, sent flowers, cards, and offered help during this difficult time. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Kansas City Hospice and Palliative Care, or the Alzheimers Association. Condolences may be expressed at www.muehlebachchapel.com.
