Richard C. Marshall

Dick Marshall, 87, of Kansas City, MO passed away on November 18, 2016. Visitation from 5:00-7:00 Monday, November 21st at St. Catherine of Siena Church, 4101 E.105th Terrace, Kansas City, MO 64137, with a rosary at 6:00 p.m. There will be a Memorial Mass the following morning at 10:00 a.m. at the church. Dick was born December 25, 1928 in Kansas City, MO to William and Martha (Vogelsang) Marshall. He graduated from Westport High School before enlisting in the Army at age 17. He served as a paratrooper in the 472nd Glider Field Artillery Battalion, 11th Airborne Division during the occupation of Japan. After military service he attended Kansas University where he attained a B.S. in Journalism in 1952. Dick began his career in advertising before switching to sales which he thoroughly enjoyed. He married Dolores Tye of Kansas City on August 17, 1957 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help, a bond that lasted 59 years. Dick served as a Grand Knight in the Knights of Columbus O Hara Council #4387 and was always gregarious, enjoyed meeting and talking to people as well as telling a joke or two. He is survived by his wife Dolores, and their four children, son, Richard Jr. and wife Stephanie Marshall; son, Dennis and wife Theresa Marshall; daughter, Janet and husband Jim Soetaert; daughter Jill and husband Mike Rotter; seven grandchildren, Bethany (Marshall) Marchena, Adam Soetaert, Nicole Marshall, Cyprian Marshall, Bret Marshall, Jack Rotter, Emily Rotter; three great grand children; and many nieces and nephews. Family and friends are invited to celebrate Dick s life by gathering at Jack Stack Private Dining, 13645 Holmes Road, Kansas City, MO for a noon meal and time for fellowship and remembrances.


The Rosary will be prayed at 6:00pm.
