Richard M Fox, Jr, “Dick”, age 83 passed away on September 25th, 2023 at McCrite in Briarcliff.
He was born in Hutchinson, KS on March 18, 1940 to Richard M. Fox, Sr., “Myrl” and Ethel Ellen Fox.
Upon graduation from Kendall Sr. High in 1958, Dick joined the Army to serve his country, which took him to Germany. After his return, Dick went on to earn a degree in Chemistry from Kansas State University in 1965, a graduate degree in Pharmacology from the University of Kansas in 1972 and a graduate degree in Dentistry from the University of Missouri, Kansas City in 1976.
He went on to practice dentistry in Lenexa, KS and Tonganoxie, KS until he retired in 1995. After retirement from dentistry, he began a career in woodworking.
We will remember him most for his generosity and intelligence, his laugh, his love of woodworking, his love of cats, his love of the TV show Jeopardy and for completing the New York Times crossword puzzle each day at work in ink.
He was proceeded in death by his mother and father, Myrl and Ethel Fox.
Dick leaves behind his children, Wendi, Tyler, Trevor and Heather Fox, grandchildren Britnei Jade, Dylan and Ethan Fox, and great grandchildren Summer Jade Burris and Jude Fox, his sister Lynn Finkenbinder of Boerne, TX and brother Dennis Fox, of Harrison, AR.
Dick was a great man whose impact will be forever felt by his family and friends, that love him dearly. His passing left an unfillable gap in the hearts of loved ones. His ability to sacrifice, provide, support, forgive, love and laugh will forever be engrained in all he knew.
A memorial service for friends and family will take place at 10 a.m. on October 21st at Muehlebach Funeral Care, 6800 Troost Avenue, Kansas City, MO 64131.
