Richard Mcenaney

December 4, 1931 — March 1, 2015

The family of Richard McEnaney is saddened to announce his journey in this life ended on March 1, 2015 at the age of 83 after a four year battle with dementia/Alzheimer?s. Rick was born on December 4th 1931 to Cyril & Cecelia McEnaney in Falls City, Nebraska, was raised in Tarkio, MO, then moved to the Kansas City area in his twenties, began a lifetime career in finance, and married Betty Jean Griffitt. They were married 32 years and raised five children together.

He became a proud member of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church, a member of the Benevolent Order of Elks Lodge #26, a member of the National Association of Watch and Clock Collectors, and a member of the Smoke Signals Pontiac Oakland Club Int. He enjoyed tennis, dancing, music, his beloved 1954 Chieftain Pontiac convertible, and his collection of antique clocks. He was a proud Irishman with great admiration and respect for his heritage. The one role he was most proud of was that of a father, and that he loved his children unconditionally.

Rick is preceded in death by his parents Cyril McEnaney and Cecilia (Broxterman) McEnaney; sister, Delores Miller; brothers, Gerald and Derald McEnaney. He is survived by his long time friend and companion Barbara Pierson of Merriam, KS. His children William McEnaney, Kevin McEnaney (Kathy Murphy), Mary Jo McEnaney, Erick McEnaney, Karen McEnaney and wife Donna Kelley all of Kansas City, MO. His brothers; Arthur McEnaney and companion, Sheila Dougan, St. Joseph, MO, Delbert and Carol Sue McEnaney, Shenandoah, IA, Don and Carolyn McEnaney, Tarkio, MO, Leon and Kay McEnaney, Shenandoah, IA. Two sisters; Anita and Don Foster, Palmyra, MO, and Marciel and Pete Selkirk, Tonawanda, NY. Rick is also survived by 8 Grandchildren, 8 Great Grandchildren, and 1 Great Great Grandchild. Visitation will be March 5 from 6-8 pm with the Rosary at 7:30 at Muehlebach Funeral Home, 6800 Troost Ave., Kansas City, MO 64131. Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, March 6 at 10am at St. Elizabeth?s Church, 2 E. 75th St, Kansas City, MO 64114. The Family supports The Alzheimer?s Association.
