Robert Dale Breckenridge was born February 21st, 1946, in La Jolla, California to Mrs. Evelyn Morris Breckenridge and Melvin Lester Breckenridge, and raised by his mother and his “Pop”, Albert Inderlied. Growing up he lived in Arkansas, Idaho, Colorado, Kansas, and Oklahoma. He graduated high school in Coweta, Oklahoma, as a member of the class of 1965.
After graduation Bob attended Oklahoma State University on a wrestling scholarship, later deciding to leave college, Bob was drafted and joined the U.S. Air Force. He served in Vietnam, primarily stationed in Thailand, U Tapao AFB as a Boom Operator and Fuel Systems Mechanic. His federal service career continued through 1999; accounting for over 30 years of service to the US.
In 1972 while in Wichita, he met his wife, Barbara (daughter of Emma and James A. Lewis). Bob converted to Roman Catholicism was Baptized and Confirmed. Bob and Barbara were united in Holy Matrimony on April 20th, 1974, at All Saints Catholic Church in Wichita, Kansas, and they welcomed four children into their lives: Tara, Robert ‘Lew’, James, and Ivan.
Bob and Barbara became farmers and settled to raise their family in Waterville, Kansas. Bob was dedicated to the land and his animals, enjoyed old cars and mechanics. He loved camping and fishing with his brothers, Ivan and Melvin Breckenridge, his Father-in-Law, Jim Lewis, and his Brothers-in-Law Jerry Potvin, Arch Lewis, and close family friends. He adored visiting his children and grandchildren, pulling pranks on nephews, and taking photographs with all his nieces and nephews. Most of all, he enjoyed a good laugh and bear hugs.
Bob planned and promised Barbara a trip to Rome for their 50th wedding anniversary; he fulfilled this promise. Bob passed peacefully in his sleep, departing this earthly life in Rome, Italy, in the early morning hours of April 17th, 2024, completing God’s plan.
