Robert Eugene 'Bob' Tumberger

Robert Eugene "Bob" Tumberger, passed away February 4, 2017 at Kansas City Hospice House, with his family at his side. Born January 10, 1928 to Frank and Margaret Tumberger and was raised in Westport. Bob attended Guardian Angels grade school and Lillis High School. Upon graduation of high school Bob enlisted in the United States Navy, serving for 4 years.
Bob met his beautiful bride on a blind date. Beverly and Bob celebrated their 65 wedding anniversary last October. Their union was blessed with 12 children, which Dad proudly claimed as his greatest accomplishment. Bob joined the Sheet Metal Union upon his return from military service, a career that spanned 45 years, owning his own sheet metal company, TSM in which 3 sons continue his legacy. Bob lead an active life up until his death. Attending countless sports activities, traveling, spending time with his friends and family telling animated stories, Bob loved a good laugh and cold beer.
Upon retirement Bob and Bev enjoyed volunteering and spending time at Guardian Angels Parish. In December of 2016, a statue of our Lady of Hope (the new school name for Guardian Angels) was dedicated in honor of Dad and Mom, proud moment for all of us to witness.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Frank Tumberger and son Paul Tumberger. He is survived by his sisters, Margaret Dubes and Mary Augustine. Survived by his wife Beverly; children, Denise Strohm (Mike), Robert (Carol), Steve (Sharon), Laura DeMaria (Steve), Gary (Karen), Larry (Jill), Mathew, Julie Ismert (Ed), Daniel (Shelley), Lyn McMahon (John), Philip (Anna); 41 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren, including all spouses 104 in all, and of course his many nieces and nephews.
