Robert M. Hardesty was born July 3, 1948 in Kansas City Mo. to Egbert M. Hardesty, Jr. and Margaret E. Hardesty. He was a talented trumpet player from an early age and performed with many area musical organizations. He graduated from Southeast High School and was a student at the Inspiration Point Fine Arts Colony. After graduating from Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa with Bachelors and Master of Music degrees, he pursued a career as a free lance trumpet player in Des Moines, Iowa and Minneapolis, Minnesota. He later pivoted to the IT field and worked at Infostat in Dallas ,Texas and at Cerner in Kansas City, Missouri. He took a serious interest in history , especially 19th century America and the Civil War period and was a longtime member of the Weston Historical Museum. He was also an avid sports fan and an excellent cook. He was a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church. He is survived by his sister Sarah Hardesty of Dallas, Texas, and by cousins Dona Sue Hardesty, Mary Margaret Wiese, Ed Porras, David Porras and Joseph Porras. In lieu of flowers, contributions to the Weston Historical Museum are appreciated.
