Sheila (Ryan) Effertz, 76 of Kansas City, MO passed away February 10, 2016 with her family by her side. Visitation will be held Friday, February 19 at 10 a.m. and The Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00 a.m. at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, 11822 Holmes Rd, Kansas City, MO. Burial to follow at Calvary Cemetery.
Sheila (Ryan) Effertz was born October 14, 1939 in Los Angeles, CA. Graduated from Georgetown University in Washington, D.C. After college, Sheila taught elementary school at St. Catherine of Siena Parish in Kansas City, where she met Fr. Robert M. Cameron, a close friend of the Effertz family, who introduced her to Tom Effertz. Sheila and Tom married in 1961, and together they were blessed with four children and shared 51 loving years together. Sheila will be remembered as a devoted and loving wife, mother, aunt and grandmother. Sheila was a class act and known for her beautiful smile. It didnt matter if she was at home or at the Lake, you could always find her in the kitchen cooking up a delicious meal and hosting a wonderful party with close friends and family. Sheila and Tom supported many charities and organizations such as Seton Center, Vitae Caring Foundation, Little Sisters of the Poor, Ladies of Charity, St. Teresas Academy, Rockhurst High School and St. Thomas More Catholic Church.
Sheila was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas H. Effertz and her parents, William and Marion (Gibson) Ryan. She is survived by her four children, Tommy Effertz, Jr., Mike Effertz (Kim), Chrissy (Effertz) Fiorella and Carolyn (Effertz) Dorlac (Jim) and her brother, David Ryan (Linda). Sheila Effertz ("Gram") will be missed by her 11 grandchildren: Paige Effertz Mansfield (Ryan), Madelyn Effertz Taylor, (Kimbrough) Alex and Brent Effertz; Michael Looney, Anna Marie, Claire and Grace Fiorella; Jimmy, Ryan Elizabeth and Tommy Dorlac, along with her 40 nieces & nephews. We love you, Mom. ("Sheila Buns") In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to St. Thomas More Catholic Church.
