Susie was born on October 13, 1935 in Wellington, Missouri, to Earl Elmer and Lillian Susie (Goodlowe) McElmuray. She was the youngest of five children, having two brothers and two sisters. Susie was an incredibly hardworking and self-sufficient woman. She started as a secretary and worked her way up to an executive role for Mobile Oil Company, educating herself along the way, and proving to the men that women know hard work too! Susie was the only woman at that time to be in an executive role for Mobile Oil Company.Susie met the love of her life, James Everett Johnson, while in high school in Odessa, MO. These high school sweethearts were married in December of 1957, and enjoyed a long and happy union until James passing in March of 1985. Together Susie and James had two children; sons, James Michael Johnson and Eric Bruce Johnson. Unfortunately toward the end of Susies life, she developed a mental illness that affected her greatly. The love and support of her family kept Susie involved in normal, everyday activities that allowed her to still be a wonderfully loving mother and grandmother. Susie is preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Lillian; husband, James; sons, James and Eric; brothers, Earl Douglas McElmuray and Ned Jhoston McElmuray; and her sisters, Virginia Deane Stewart and Eva Mae McNally.
