Suzanne S. Adams, 87, passed away September 9, 2022 surrounded by her loving family. Suzanne was born September 20, 1934, in Kansas City, MO to Charles R. and LaReine LeDoux Swann. Suzanne graduated valedictorian of her class at Bishop Lillis High School, attended Mount St. Scholastica College for mathematics, graduated from Avila College with a bachelor’s in education, and earned a masters in school administration from the University of Missouri-Kansas City.
Suzanne started her career in 1954 as an engineer at AT&T and worked on the Telstar satellite project, the first communications satellite. Suzanne decided to change careers after the birth of her fourth child to elementary education. In 1968, Suzanne started working in the Diocese of Kansas City-St. Joseph for 30 years teaching at St Catherine of Siena, St. Thomas More, Our Lady of Peace, and Christ the King in Kansas City and was principal at Nativity of Mary BVM, Independence and Our Lady of Peace, Kansas City.
Suzanne is survived by her husband of 66 years, Charles J. Adams; her children, Anastasia A. Royer and husband James, Kenneth M. Adams and wife Fran, Jerome P. Adams and wife Christa and Monica L. Adams; grandchildren, Zachary Royer and wife Abby, Zoe Baas and husband Justin, Kelly White, Charlize Adams, Louandri Fourie, Marie Louise Gryska and husband Grant, and Chris-Berne Fourie and great grandchildren, Coby Royer, Cassidy Royer, Josephine Fourie and Frederick Fourie Gryska; a brother, Raymond Swann; sisters, Mary St. Clair and LaReine Kelly; nieces and nephews. Suzanne was preceded in death by her parents, and sisters, Eleanor Swann and Margaret Galvin.
Visitation will be held from 10:00 to 11:00am Thursday, September 15th at Visitation Catholic Church, 5141 Main St., Kansas City, MO followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am. Entombment will be at Mt. Olivet Cemetery. The family suggests memorial contributions to Operation Breakthrough or Habitat for Humanity.
