Thomas Lee Warinner, 63, of Kansas City, MO, passed peacefully on January 21, 2015, surrounded by his loving family who will cherish the many memories of dedicated husband, father, grandfather and brother. Thomas (Tom) was born on September 23, 1951, in Rapid City, SD, as the third child of Robert and Hendrina Warinner. Tom was raised in Kansas City, MO, where he fell head-over-heels for and married his childhood sweetheart, Ruth Elizabeth (Beth) Cutcliff. Tom and Beth were married for 42 years and were blessed with three children, Jennifer, John and Kelly. Their house was always full of life, love and laughter, the kind where a party was known to break out at any time for no particular reason.
Tom attended St. Peters Grade School and Center Senior High School in Kansas City. After high school, Tom joined the Air Force and was stationed at Wurtsmith Air Force Base in Osecoda, MI, where he was a missile systems analyst specialist and achieved the rank of sergeant. Upon discharge from the Air Force, Tom attended and graduated from the Missouri Institute of Technology, earning a Bachelor's of Science in Electronic Engineering Technology. He worked for a short time at Johnson Controls in Wichita, KS. In 1978, Tom acquired Dando Electronics, an electronics repair center located in Waldo and successfully operated the business for over thirty-five years with his wife Beth and sister-in-law Kerry Cullinan. He loved family gatherings and never shied away from a good joke about the Irish family heritage of both he and his wife. Tom was also an exceptional artist, creating landscapes of his surroundings and still life drawings and paintings of his parents, wife, children, grandchildren and extended family of nieces and nephews. In life, Tom was loved and revered by all who were fortunate enough to meet him and his spirit will remain forever with his family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Hendrina Warinner; grandmother, Catherine Warinner; uncles, Bud Warinner and John Van Senden; and aunt, Katherine Warinner. He is survived by his wife, Beth, and their three children: daughter, Jennifer (Kansas City); son John and wife Kami (Raymore); daughter, Kelly Hogan (Parkville); six grandchildren: Devyn, Jack, Grace, Mackenzie, Chase and Emma; two sisters, Susan Schlacks (North Kansas City) and Jeanne Sivewright (Wentzville, MO); two brothers, Robert James Gauthier-Warinner (Interlochen, MI) and William Warinner (Overland Park, KS).
