Tom W. Olofson, age 75, of Kansas City, Missouri, passed away on April 8, 2017. A Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday, April 12th at Village Presbyterian Church, 6641 Mission Rd., Prairie Village, Kansas 66208, beginning at 3:00 p.m. There will be a reception for friends and family following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may go to Lee Ann Britain Infant Development Center, c/o The Foundation for Shawnee Mission Medical Center, 7315 E. Frontage Rd., Ste. 221, Shawnee Mission, Kansas 66204 in memory of Tom.
Tom was born on October 10, 1941 in Buffalo, New York, to Ragnar "Bill" Olofson and Ingrid (Eriksson) Olofson. The Olofson Family moved to West Palm Beach, Florida, where Tom graduated from Palm Beach High School in 1959. He was an avid basketball player in high school and received a full athletic scholarship to play basketball for the University of Pittsburgh in Pennsylvania. He earned a BBA from the University of Pittsburgh. Toms joy of travel was shared so willingly with his family, and most especially, Ella and Preston.
Tom served as the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer at Epiq Systems Acquisition, Inc. also as the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer for EPIQ Systems, Inc. since July 1988. Tom led a private investor group that acquired EPIQ Systems Inc. During his business career, he held various management positions with Xerox Corporation and was a Senior Vice President and Member of the Office of the President of Marion Laboratories Inc. Tom also served as a Member of the Board of Directors of various private companies in which he is an investor. He served as a Director of EPIQ Systems, Inc. since July 1988, a Member of the Board of Visitors of the Katz Graduate School of Business at the University of Pittsburgh, and also served as a Director of Saztec International Inc., since November 1991.
