Venona Pearl Trammell Hicks, of Gladstone, Missouri, passed away peacefully and surrounded by family on March 12, 2023. She lived to the beautiful age of 80 years old. Venona was born on September 27, 1942 and grew up in Arkansas. She was married to L.D. Moore in 1958. As a working mom, Venona set an example of hard work and perseverance, working full time in Fowler Envelope Company. Venona was married to John Hicks in 1977. She loved traveling with her family, bowling, reading romance novels, creating beautiful clothing and jewelry, baking elaborate cakes and desserts, watching (and sometimes cursing) her beloved Kansas City Chiefs, and spending a Saturday night at the casino. She spent the final years of her life at Monterrey Park Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Independence, Missouri. She was beloved by the staff, and was voted Valentine Sweetheart in February 2023.
Venona is survived by many, as she was blessed with a large family whom she cared about deeply. She leaves behind a daughter, Cindy (Jim) Brown, grandchildren Shawn (Melissa) Wade, BJ Whitehurst, Chris (Kerri) Whitehurst, Stacy (Keith) Stiffler, Cody (Emily) Brown, and eleven great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her siblings, Ann Collins and Ricky Trammell.
