Verna A. Welander

Verna A. Welander, 99, of Shawnee, Kansas, passed away in her home on December 30th, 2014. She was born on September 27th, 1915, to Oscar and Anna (Bowman) Burkman in rural Randolph, Kansas. She is preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Virgil E. Welander, in 2005. Survivors include daughter, Rita Welander of Kansas City, Kansas; son, Carl Welander of Kansas City, Missouri; and a brother, Willard Burkman of Salem, Missouri. Visitation will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, January 5 at the Community of Covenant Church, 15700 W. 87th Street, Lenexa, Kansas. Remembrance Service will be at 1:00 PM at the Church with refreshments in between, and Interment following the service at Johnson County Memorial Gardens.
