On Friday, January 17, 2025--one month before her 80th birthday-- Virginia “Ginny” Gale (Bell) Garber, of Kansas City, passed away peacefully in the comfort of her home at The Ashton on the Plaza. Ginny always joked that she “never wanted to turn 80!”
Ginny was born on February 17, 1945, in Minneapolis, MN, to her parents Reuben Carmel and Katherine Agnes (Young) Bell. She attended high school in Kansas City at Southeast HS, class of 1963. Ginny spent most of her professional years in banking, going from a teller to a branch manager, and all the possible jobs in between.
Ice cream, lemon meringue pie, and really any kind of sweet, Ginny loved! She also enjoyed crocheting, playing bingo, going to the movies, the dinner theatre and winning at the casino. Ginny was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Unit 407, Lenexa.
Ginny was preceded in death by her parents, and her sister Carolyn Jones. She is survived by her four children, Becky Bell (Marvel) Odor, Debbie (Dave) Kemp, Gale (d. Bryan) Salzman, and Shawn Garber; along with five grandchildren, Austin Vagts, Madison Vagts, Emily Kemp, Allison Bell Gammill, and Ethan Kemp; six great-grandchildren, Wyatt Vagts, Emmett Vagts, Carley Bell Johnson, Cooper Johnson, Violet Vagts, and Bodie Gammill; and two nieces and one nephew.
