Virginia Hutto

Virginia Hutto, 96, of Kansas City, MO, passed away October 31, 2015 of natural causes. A rosary will be prayed followed by the visitation at 9:30 a.m. Mass of Christian burial will follow at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, November 5th, at Christ the King Catholic Church, 8500 Wornall Rd, KCMO. Interment will follow, where she will be laid to rest alongside Joe, her loving husband of 62 years, at Mt. Moriah Cemetery, 10507 Holmes in KCMO. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Christ the King Church, St. Joseph Health Foundation or your favorite charity.Virginia was preceded in death by he husband, parents and eleven brothers and sisters. She is survived by her son, Earl and wife Ellen and their sons Mark (Lisa) and Steven and six great grandchildren, as well as her son Charles and his son Jason, numerous nieces and nephews, two sisters Cecilia Price, San Antonio, TX and Joan Delaney, Houston, TX. Pat was born in Floresville, TX, March 17, 1919. She was the daughter of John Flores and Clara Edds. Floresville was settled by her ancestors from the Canary Islands, and the land was deeded to them by the Kind of Spain. That land later became Floresville, TX, a little city SE of San Antonio. She graduated from St. Mary's high school in San Antonio and also from San Antonio's Business College. She married her husband Earl B. Hutto (Joe) who had a long and successful career in the Air Force, where he retired as a Lt. Col. Except for WWII, she accompanied him on all his tours of duty. Besides being stationed at several cities in the U.S., they also had tour stops on Okinawa and Germany. Those stops allowed them to tour Japan and most all of Europe, including Greece and Turkey. Because of her many travels, she was able to have and make friends all over the world. Pat was a devoted wife, loving mother and caring grandmother. She also was a people person who enjoyed spending time with her family and friends young and old, new friends and old friends. Especially over a glass of wine. She was a strong woman, with a strong opinion, which she freely shared. No matter where she was at, Pat always serviced in some leadership capacity of the Officers Wives Club. She was a member of Christ the King Parish and the Women of Christ the King. Pat was a past member of the Century Club of Children Mercy Hospital. Pat was a woman of many talents and very creative. She made 6423 rosaries for military prison chaplains and children. She was a self-taught artist. She painted many pictures for the pure joy of the art of painting. She embraced the world of arts and crafts with genuine enthusiasm and passion. Pat was an absolute wizard on a sewing machine. For many years, she made all of her own clothes. She always received many compliments from all her friends, who found it hard to believe that she had sewed them herself. From the upholstery of furniture to curtains on the sewing machine, Pat did it all. Aside from sewing, knitting, crafts, painting and playing the organ, Pat was an avid and very good bridge player of over seventy years. As always she taught herself to play bridge. Pat was always a pro football fan. She would tune in regularly on television and watch the games from start to finish and while watching she knot another hat or made another rosary. Pat will truly be missed by all who knew her.
