Virginia Lee Grable

Virginia L. Grable, 100, of Roeland Park, KS passed away March 23, 2017 at her home with her daughter, Melinda by her side. Funeral services will be 3:00 pm Wednesday, March 29th at Muehlebach Funeral Care, 6800 Troost Ave, Kansas City, MO. Interment will be at Mt. Moriah Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to City Union Mission, 1100 East 11th St., Kansas City, MO 64106.
Virginia was born January 27, 1917 in Howell County, MO to William Davis and Bessie Lee Scruggs. She graduated from Willow Springs, MO high school and Southwest Baptist College where she was active in the booster club, basketball team, a yell leader and the "Singing Sweethearts". In 1938 Virginia married Frank Grable, Jr. Together Frank and Virginia owned Grable-Windel Funeral Home in Mountain Grove, MO. In 1962 the family moved to Johnson County, KS. Virginia was preceded in death by her husband; a niece, Libby Wrona and Melindas life partner, Austin Jeter. She is survived by her daughter, Melinda Grable of Memphis, TN; three nieces, Marian Dawson of Rolla, MO, Evelyn Wallace of Branson, MO and Carol Webster of Hopewell Junction, NY.
Virginia was full of love and laughter, had a love for others and playing bridge. She recently received a proclamation recognizing her 100th birthday from Southwest Baptist University President, Pat Taylor and was the oldest member of the Nall Avenue Baptist Church.
