Virginia L. Council, 80, of Kansas City, MO passed away November 25, 2014. A memorial service will be 1:00 p.m. Friday, November 28 at John Knox Presbyterian Kirk, 11430 Wornall Rd, Kansas City, MO; followed by a reception in The Atrium. Private inurnment will be at Leavenworth National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to The Sunflower House at New Day at Home, 10540 Barkley Ste. 205, Overland Park, KS 66212.

Virginia was born January 31, 1934, the daughter of Clyde and Velma Hope (Leach) Rauch, in Lincoln, Arkansas. She graduated from the University of Arkansas and began teaching in elementary schools. She married Frank Council June 2, 1956 and they started their family together in St. Louis. Virginia stayed at home raising their three children until Frank retired from McDonnell Douglas. Then she and Frank moved to a farm in Nevada, MO. Virginia resumed teaching kindergarten and working as a school librarian in the nearby town of Sheldon, MO.



She is preceded in death by her sister, Mary Christian. She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Frank; three children, Frank Paul Council and wife Robyn; Dave Council and wife Judy; Betty Hathhorn and husband Brian; grandchildren, Natalie (Council) Seebeck and husband Joe; Mark and Mae Council; and Adam, Emily, Benjamin and Henry Hathhorn; and great-grandchild Louis Seebeck, brother, Leon Rauch and wife Margaret; and her loving nieces and nephews.
