Walter John Butler, known as "Jack" to friends and family, died peacefully on June 23rd , 2022 after a long battle with an illness. He was born November 16, 1940, in East St. Louis, IL to Edward and Rosemary Butler, one of six children. Jack attended Helias High School in Jefferson City from 1954-1958, where he met and fell in love with his future wife, Ellen Ann Vogel. After graduation he joined the U.S. Navy and served four years before returning home to marry his high school sweetheart. They started a family and along the way, Jack achieved his B.S. in Business Administration from Lincoln University in Jefferson City. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Ellen, and son, Chris. Survivors include his son Jeff and his wife Robyn, his daughter Katie and her husband Dean, and daughter-in-law Bozhena; six grandchildren, Michaela, Lily, Ethan, Owen, Jason, and Alaina; siblings Edward (Butch), twin brother James, Rose Mary, Kathy, and Margaret; many nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be held Friday, July 1 at at 10:00 a.m. at Saint Catherine of Siena Catholic church, 4101East 105th Terrace, Kansas City, MO with a funeral service following at 11:00 a.m. He will be laid to rest in Mount Olivet Catholic Cemetery next to his wife.
