Walter (Wally) Whitlow
Walter was born September 20, 1935 in Kansas City, Missouri to the late Walter J. and Marie (Coffey) Whitlow. He graduated from Redemptorist High School in 1953. Walter served in the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged in 1962. He worked for 3M and Martin Marietta. Walter also started two successful businesses, one in Roeland Park and the other in Blue Springs.
Walter retired in 1994 and had homes in both Arizona and Kansas City, Missouri. Walter enjoyed golfing and watching all sporting events. He was also very passionate about his genealogy hobby. Walter was also a member of The Knights of Columbus.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Mel Marie (Wachter) Whitlow, his children Kathy Whitlow, Mark Whitlow, and Karen Wallace (Michael), his grandson Ryne Dowling (Tatiana), and his precious great-grandson Wes Dowling. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 9:30 a.m., Wednesday, November 2, 2022 at Redemptorist Catholic Church, Kansas City, Missouri. Visitation one hour prior, beginning at 8:30 a.m. Burial to follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Raytown, Missouri. Walter will be interred with his mother's rosary, and his lapel pin which was given to him for altar serving 600 masses.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Redemptorist Catholic Church.
