August 15, 1942 — March 11, 2016

William Francis (Bill) Egelhoff, 73, of Kansas City, Missouri passed away on Friday, March 11 at Kansas City Hospice House surrounded by his loving family. Bill was born on August 15, 1942 to William Weis Egelhoff and Frances Jacobs Egelhoff. He attended Redemptorist and St. Elizabeth's Parish Schools, Rockhurst High School and Rockhurst College. In 1967 Bill married Theresa Morris Egelhoff and they were blessed with two children, Ann and Amy. The family enjoyed many happy years as members of St. Elizabeth's Parish. As a member of the St. Elizabeth's community since 1951, Bill gave his time in many areas of the parish including coordinating the St. Vincent de Paul food pantry and serving on the Athletic Association committee. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus and served as a Eucharistic minister and lector. Bill worked in the automotive industry for 28 years as a Finance and Insurance Manager before moving to the Dental Benefits industry in 1991. Eventually Bill founded Egelhoff & Associates, a small insurance company which focused on group and individual dental benefits. Bill served as President of the Insurance Employee Benefits Professional Organization of Greater Kansas City. He was an incredibly loyal member of the Southtown Council, serving for many years on the Executive Board of Directors and was voted Southtown Man of the Year in 2010. He was a proud member of the Rockhurst High School Class of 1959 and served as their Class Agent for many years. Bill loved Rockhurst and treasured the life-long friends that were his classmates. He believed in the mission of RHS and epitomized the school's motto "Men for Others." Bill was known for his kindness and great sense of humor but most of all for his unwavering devotion to his Catholic faith. He was a friendly, loyal and loving person who had great respect for his family and friends. His fun-loving spirit was enjoyed by all who knew him. Goodness and integrity describe Bill's character as his life exemplified those virtues. Bill leaves his wife of 49 years, Theresa Morris Egelhoff, his children Ann Egelhoff and Amy (Jay) Oades, and his beloved granddaughters, Ashley and Emily Oades. He also leaves his brother, John (Phyllis) Egelhoff, and his sisters, Betty Egelhoff Bauers and Joanne Egelhoff Nielsen as well as many nieces and nephews and friends who will without a doubt cherish his memory.
