In the Greater Kansas City community
We are proud to have a caring staff that lives, works, and continues to be involved in the Greater Kansas City community. We are passionate about being active in many different ways. Helping the families of our community extends far beyond assisting in times of sorrow. We host and participate in many community events. It is important to us to continuously give back to the community.
Muehlebach Funeral Care has graciously invested back into the community in order to promote the saving of lives, through our Vital Ice/Vital Boards in case of emergency app and whiteboards.
Have the Talk of a Lifetime
Have the Talk of a Lifetime is a nationwide campaign designed to get families talking about their lives, interests, and wishes. We were pleased to recently present this program to social workers. We are available to have a presentation on this program for any senior or community group. The presentation includes a free workbook for each participant. Click
here or contact Jenny@MuehlebachChapel.com for more information.
Every December, Muehlebach Funeral Care hosts a holiday remembrance service for the families we have served during the year. This is a beautiful ceremony that gives us a chance to gather, celebrate those lives we remember, and help address our grief during the holidays. The program includes hanging a personalized ornament on the tree. Due to Covid, the 2021 remembrance was a video tribute, but since then we have held the ceremony in our chapel.
In 2017, we realized that there were not many events held in Kansas City where seniors had the opportunity to connect with organizations that provided needed services to this demographic. As part of our goal to provide service to our community, we started The Golden Circle Senior Resource Group. The vision of The Golden Circle is to provide seniors with the most beneficial resources for their every day, upcoming, or unexpected needs, as well as to have some fun hobbies available to them. Our members come from an impressive range of backgrounds and areas of expertise. We host Senior Fairs throughout the year to provide these resources to seniors. You can visit the website here.
We are pleased to collect your worn flags to retire them with honor. You may bring your worn flag to the funeral home at any time between 8:30 and 4:30 Monday through Friday. Your worn flag can be cremated with a veteran, and we periodically partner with the American Legion to host an official flag retirement ceremony.
The annual South Kansas City Block Party at the Red Bridge Shopping Center is a great event. We are proud to have worked with the South Kansas City Chamber of Commerce to start this annual event, and have continued to participate and be a sponsor every year. We enjoy working with the South Kansas City Chamber on many things, and Jenny Mertes is currently the Chair-Elect of the Board of Directors.
Through the years, we have worked with KCFD and KCPD on various events. We were pleased to work with KCFD to host a CPR class. We have hosted barbecues at our facility for first responders. In addition, we participate in KCPD events including Trunk or Treat and health and safety fairs.
In addition to our quarterly Hospice Caregiver Award, we support hospice organizations throughout the year, through events such as the annual Circle of Lights remembrance program, and helping plan the Solace Sensation fundraiser.
Another senior event that we were happy to sponsor and co-host was the Senior Summit at St. Joseph Medical Center. We had a great crowd for this event, and were able to provide valuable resources to many.
Muehlebach Funeral Care and Martin City Coffee co-sponsored the first ever Martin City Coffee with a Cop. We appreciate the Kansas City Missouri Police Department South Patrol Division and Major Daniel Gates for coming to meet the Kansas City community! Thank you to everyone who attended!
Community Fairs
Muehlebach Funeral Care appears at community events throughout the year to distribute materials on funeral and planning information.
Charity Events
We sponsor, attend and help plan numerous charity events throughout the year.
Educational Events
Many people have questions about funeral advanced planning but don’t know where to go for information. We visit churches and community organizations such as the Shepherd’s Center and others to present: Everything You Want to Know About Funeral Planning Without the Salesman. Programs are free of charge. If you are interested in this presentation, please contact Jenny@MuehlebachChapel.com.
